Dip moulding is a very cost-effective solution for producing PVC parts, both individually and by mass production:

  • low tooling costs
  • standard or made-to-measure parts
  • parts with a large draft
  • large-volume parts
  • fast implementation
  • PVC layers from 8/10ths to several mm thick

The dip moulding process

Plastic dip moulding is a technique where an aluminium core with the shape of the required part is first heated and then submerged in a bath of liquid plastic (PVC). The submersion time governs the thickness. The coated core is then placed in an oven for curing, and then cooled in a water bath. Finally, all that is left to do is to release the part.

The same principle applies to dip coating, which allows to coat on metal and glass pieces.

Advantages of dip moulding:

Plasti-Tremp is able to provide a thick durable plastic coating:

  • Resistant to corrosion
  • Resistant against heat, cold and electrical resistance
  • Durable and UV resistant
  • Different colours and finishes available
  • Range of thickness and textures also available
